Gentle straightening, lasting results

Orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth, it's about improving your bite, function, and long-term dental health. We offer modern, discreet solutions that use gentle force to precisely align your teeth and correct bite issues, leading to a perfectly level, confident smile.

Invisalign - our modern approach to alignment

Invisalign, the market-leading clear aligner system. Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, virtually invisible aligners to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Since the aligners are removable, they offer flexibility for eating and cleaning.

Here are the key benefits of choosing the Invisalign system:

Traditional braces - proven straightening solutions

Braces remain one of the most effective and reliable methods for correcting complex orthodontic issues. Using brackets and wires, braces apply consistent, gentle pressure to gradually shift your teeth into their ideal position. Whether you're addressing crowding, gaps, or bite problems, braces offer comprehensive treatment for patients of all ages.

Frequently asked questions about orthodontics

We know you might have a few questions before starting your journey to a straighter smile, so we have answered the most common ones we hear from our patients below.

Treatment duration varies depending on the complexity of your alignment needs. For mild cases, it can take as little as 6 to 12 months. More complex cases may require 18 months or longer. We will give you a precise time estimate during your initial consultation after reviewing your digital scans.
The aligners apply gentle pressure to move your teeth, so it is completely normal to feel a feeling of tightness or mild soreness for the first day or two after switching to a new set of aligners. This discomfort is temporary and is a sign that the treatment is working.
For the treatment to be successful and stay on schedule, you must wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day. You should only remove them for eating, drinking anything other than water, and for cleaning your teeth.
Once your teeth are perfectly straight, the active alignment phase is complete. To ensure your beautiful new smile remains stable, you will enter the retention phase, which involves wearing a retainer (either fixed or removable) as instructed. This prevents the teeth from gradually moving back to their original position.
Treatment time varies depending on your individual needs, but most patients wear braces for 12 to 24 months. Complex cases may require longer treatment. During your initial consultation, we'll provide a personalised treatment timeline based on your specific orthodontic requirements.
You may experience some mild discomfort for a few days after your braces are fitted and following adjustments, as your teeth begin to shift. This is completely normal and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief if needed. Most patients adjust quickly, and any discomfort typically subsides within a week. We'll provide guidance on managing any sensitivity and keeping your mouth comfortable throughout treatment.
You'll typically need to visit us every 4 to 8 weeks for adjustments. These appointments allow us to monitor your progress, tighten wires, and ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. Each appointment usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
You can enjoy most foods, but you'll need to avoid very hard, sticky, or chewy items that could damage your braces. We'll provide a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and tips for protecting your braces whilst eating. With a few simple adjustments to your diet, you'll be able to eat comfortably throughout your treatment.

The choice depends on your specific needs and lifestyle. Braces are often better for complex cases involving significant bite corrections or severe crowding, offering precise control over tooth movement. Invisalign suits mild to moderate alignment issues and is ideal if you prefer a discreet, removable option.

Key differences:

  • Effectiveness: Braces handle complex cases; Invisalign works best for straightforward alignment
  • Appearance: Invisalign is virtually invisible; braces are more noticeable
  • Lifestyle: Invisalign is removable for eating and cleaning; braces are fixed
  • Commitment: Invisalign requires wearing aligners 20-22 hours daily; braces work continuously

During your consultation, we'll assess your situation and recommend the most effective treatment for your ideal smile.
